GREENWICH SANCTUARY PROJECT
St George's is a leading organisation in a collaborative effort to provide housing and hospitality to Syrian refugee families in Greenwich through the Greenwich Sanctuary Project. Daily management of the project is provided by the Greenwich Islamic Centre with funds from the Borough Council. We work with the Borough Council, the Greenwich Islamic Centre, the Greenwich Inclusion Project, the Migrant Hub, and several faith and community groups to help support the incoming families as they transition to life in the UK. There are opportunities for interested people who wish to serve as volunteers, ESOL teachers and helpers with learning the English language, translators and counsellors. And we coordinate donations of furniture, white goods and other necessities. As of April 2018, we have begun to provide help to three families, and we expect six more families to arrive before Christmas 2018. We expect to receive a total twenty (20) families over the next two and a half years.
Volunteers and donations are coordinated through Refugees Welcome - Greenwich, which is chaired by Revd Tim. To become involved or for more information, contact Tim at email@example.com .
