Community Lecture – After the riots
St George’s Church is putting on a public lecture open to all on Wednesday 9th October on the theme of ‘After the riots – community responses and how hardship harms us all’.
The speaker is Laurence Smith, the inspiring founder of a local charity, the Lewisham Donation Hub.
The event, the latest in an ongoing series of community lectures, ranging from AI to Shakespeare, is in memory of the much-loved late vicar at St George’s, Tim Yeager, who campaigned successfully for the local authority to welcome and house refugee families locally.
Rev Laura Faturoti comments that “after the recent spate of racist riots, we are looking to create space for a conversation on how we respond as a diverse and open community here in Westcombe Park.”
Wednesday October 9th, 8pm at St George’s, Glenluce Road SE3 7SD, free
Oh… and with drinks and nibbles after.
